**UPDATE: COVID-19 — The pandemic has only strengthened our resolve to deliver poetry to as many people as we can. During this period of social distancing, Parkland Poet’s Society will be bringing our regular readings to you (on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month) via ZOOM. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our mailing list, so that you will receive an invitation (with meeting ID and password) for each upcoming reading.**
Welcome to Parkland Poets! We are a non-profit poetry society with a mission to bring more poetry into our community. Whether you are interested in Traditional Forms, Cowboy Poetry, Free Verse, Experimental Forms, Spoken Word, or any other kind of poetry, we hope that you will join us to share your own poems or to listen to the words of others.
If you are a poet or someone who appreciates poetry, we invite you to join us every second and fourth Thursday of the month (starting September 26, 2019 for our Fall/Winter session) at Stony Plain Library located at 4613-52 Avenue, Stony Plain, Alberta. Our reading series is open to everyone and it is free of charge.
We have modeled our meetings on the amazing example set by Edmonton’s Stroll of Poets’ Haven Reading Series (for more information, click here). At each meeting, we will feature three readers who have signed up in advance to deliver a 10-minute reading. Following our featured readers, there will be an Open Mic session, where audience members can sign up (on the night itself) to deliver a brief 2-minute reading.
Volunteers are needed as Mic Hosts each week (to MC the evening). Anyone is welcome to sign up for this role.
If you wish to sign up as a Featured Reader, Mic Host or Door Host, please visit the schedule/sign up page.
